I understand your point about while males.  Thanks for reminding all of us about gender and racial diversity.

Howard, first of all, is this listserv public? I am wondering about the ethics of your taking a conversation among academics and publicizing it. However, if you asked permission from the people you quoted, then that is understandable.

 

Secondly, I find it interesting that all the quotes you chose for your article were from white males. I believe plenty of others who are not white males contributed a great deal to the conversation. It does a disservice to represent academia as a group of middle-aged white males having a debate.

 

Does this add to the divide?
