In addition to the points already made be Phil, Del and others, I hope  
everybody will keep I'm mind who pays for reporting and writing the  
vast majority of LOCAL news delivered via the Internet and other media.

It is the NEWSPAPER publisher.

Also, please recognize that all news starts as LOCAL news. There have  
been many national and international news stories that originated from  
small newspapers ... weeklies, small dailies, college newspapers and  
even high school papers.

Newspapers are the employers who are still hiring the best young  
writers and editors directly out of college.

And the young people who love to write ... and love the language ...  
continue to search out NEWSPAPERS for internahips and their first jobs  
after college.
