About GEIG:

Serving the needs of Graduate Students in Journalism and Communication

We appreciate you taking time out to learn about the Graduate Education Interest Group (GEIG) of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC). GEIG was created in 1991 by students who were concerned about addressing graduate issues and representation within the larger body of the AEJMC. Today our membership has grown to include more than 60 students. Together we represent and provide a voice for the over six hundred student members of AEJMC.

While a substantial portion of our graduate student-centered programming takes place at the annual AEJMC convention, GEIG also coordinates and sponsors a mid-year conference as a forum for graduate student work. In addition, GEIG communicates with its members through a newsletter, webpage and listserv. One of the best features of GEIG is that it is exclusively run by graduate students and therefore is well-suited to serve our needs. Plus, annual dues are a nominal $7 (in addition to the student membership fee charged by AEJMC).

We encourage you to join and participate in our promising future:
